VALORANT High Ping: Server Selection and Packet Loss Fixes

When VALORANT feels delayed, separate a poor server-region choice from packet loss, jitter, processing delay, and low FPS. Start with a regional comparison, confirm the candidates in the lobby, then use the match statistics to identify what actually changed.

Match the symptom to the right signal

  • Every region is slower: pause uploads, test Ethernet, and compare again.
  • Only one direction is slow: try another server that the whole party can use.
  • Low RTT but delayed inputs: check Network RTT Jitter and RTT + Processing Delays.
  • Teleporting or rejected actions: inspect inbound and outbound packet loss.
  • Stable network graphs but choppy video: check client FPS and device load.

Compare regions before changing settings

Run the VALORANT ping test at the time you normally play. Compare median latency, the P10–P90 range, and missing replies. PartyPing tests its own regional probes, not Riot game servers; use it to shortlist directions, not to predict an exact match value.

Riot's preferred-server feature improves the chance of reaching a selected server but does not guarantee it. For a party, compare every player's lobby values and avoid choosing only the party leader's fastest option.

Use VALORANT's match statistics for the final diagnosis

Under Settings > Video > Stats, compare Network RTT, Network RTT Jitter, RTT + Processing Delays, packet loss, and client/server FPS. A widening browser range plus in-game jitter points toward an unstable route. Stable network values with falling client FPS point toward the device instead.

Riot has described latency above roughly 60 ms as uncomfortable for VALORANT, but it has not published PartyPing's full 20/40/60/100 ms scale. Those thresholds are an engineering interpretation for consistent comparison.

Keep account-region limits separate from latency

A Riot account's region of residence affects its shard and who it can play with. PartyPing cannot change that boundary. Confirm that the party can queue together first; then use a shared room to compare the same candidate regions.

Common questions

Does PartyPing test Riot's VALORANT servers?

No. It measures WebTransport round trips to PartyPing probes so you can compare regional directions. The VALORANT lobby and match statistics remain the final check for the server and route used by your match.

Does selecting a preferred VALORANT server guarantee that server?

No. Riot says a preference increases the chance of playing there, but matchmaking can still choose another server. Compare the whole party first, then confirm Network RTT and packet loss in the match.
